The 3rd leak of 4 tracks from his forthcoming EP, Black & Blue, due out January, 5th. Kind of odd they would push out 3 of the 4 tracks this far ahead of the EP’s release. Stream the first two leaks from Black & Blue, “Overdose (prod. Sounwave)” & “Free Fall”, and download Raleigh Ritchie’s free EP, The Middle Child, below.
Another entry in the “Rhythm Roulette” series from Mass Appeal, this time we get a look into J-Zone’s low key (cheap-as-hell) basement studio including some live drum recording. Like EL-P & Marco Polo’s entries, the series works much better for the viewer when the producer picks records they normally wouldn’t have. A few months ago I read J-Zone’s book, Root for the Villian: Life, Rap, Bullshit, & A Celebration of Failure, it was a great read but ultimately not all I hoped it would be. I’ll post some detailed thoughts on the book… at some point.
Fresh off a healthy buzz for his American Football flipping single “Unhappy”, Saint Pepsi is back with a new remix. While the vibe isn’t drastically altered from the original, the children’s chorus sample really ties this all together. Download the .mp3 and check out the video for the original, below.
After a brief video introduction, France’s Phazz offers up his free EP of dreamy baby-making slow-burners. He does switch it up on the final track for the creative and funky dub laced, but still totally bone-able, “Addiction”. Download or stream the whole EP, below.
I don’t normally fuck with Childish Gambino but these chords are so gloriously luscious, they’re sure to brighten anybody’s dreary December day. Download the .mp3 and stream Louis Futon’s recent EP, hear/say, below.
Dipset had such a big impact on Hip-Hop, noticeably evident today, and yet they’re hardly as highly regarded as many other New York crews. I blame Juelz. I love how King Henry goes hard on the “Electric Slide” vibe of the original, morphing “Hey Ma” into a party banger. Download the .mp3 and check out the original, below.
